Cedarville, Ohio—With fall underway and students of all ages well into the school year, you can almost feel a hint of winter in the air. What better way to take a break before the holiday season than to enjoy wonderful music at Cedarville University’s all-choral and symphonic band concerts, both of which will be presented Friday, Nov. 14.

Six choral ensembles, under the direction of Beth Porter, Roger O’Neel and Lyle Anderson, will perform at 4 p.m. in the Jeremiah Chapel. The Women’s Choir, ‘Ville Singers, Jubilate, Men’s Glee Club, Vocal Arts Ensemble and Concert Chorale will present a variety of entertaining and edifying inspirational music including spirituals, classical, gospel and novelty selections and a grand finale featuring 140 singers.

The program will include “Toccata of Praise,” “Bound for the Promised Land,” Haydn’s “Kyrie Eleison,” J. S. Bach’s “Organ Fugue,” “Cover the Earth,” Faure’s “In Paradisum” and “In That Great Getting Up Morning.” Numerous soloists and a delightful assortment of accompanied and a cappella selections will be featured in this special concert.

Starting at 8 p.m., the 90-piece band will perform under the direction of Michael P. DiCuirci. Musical selections include “The Footlifter March,” “Gavorkna Fanfare,” “Hymn of the Highlands,” numbers from “Les Miserables,” and “Irish Washerwoman,” which features a xylophone solo.

In addition, the Symphonic Band proudly welcomes Dr. Richard Blatti of The Ohio State University and Michael DiCuirci Jr. of Otterbein College as guest conductors for the evening.
