Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dan Estes '74 as dean of the Cedarville University School of Biblical and Theological Studies.
“Dan is a respected and recognized scholar, teacher and administrator,” shares Dr. John Gredy, provost of Cedarville University. “He enjoys an outstanding reputation among trusted theologians and will continue to contribute his voice to the national dialogue on issues of faith.”
Estes has taught at the University since 1984, and he currently holds the rank of distinguished professor of Bible. He earned his B.A. in preseminary Bible and English from Cedarville University in 1974, his Th.M. in Old Testament exegesis from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1978, and his Ph.D. in biblical exegesis from the University of Cambridge (England) in 1988.
“Over the years Dan has displayed a remarkable combination of level-headed fidelity to Christ and His Word, and administrative sense,” describes Dr. D.A. Carson, fellow theologian and mentor of Estes. “A post like this calls for both theological vision and organizational skill; only rarely do both strengths combine in one person as they do in Dan.”
Estes has served for 25 years on the Bible faculty at Cedarville University.
As a part of the transition, Dr. Chris Miller was also appointed as chair within the School.
Miller is a senior professor of Bible and has taught at the University since 1991. He earned his B.A. in Bible from Tennessee Temple University in 1976, his Th.M. in systematic theology from Grace Theological Seminary in 1981, and his Ph.D. in Bible exposition from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1994.
“Chris is a gifted communicator and mentor who is well regarded among his colleagues and peers,” continues Gredy. “The imprints of his leadership are seen throughout the growth and implementation of the University’s Bible curriculum.”
Miller has served for 18 years on the Bible faculty at Cedarville University.
