Cedarville, Ohio—In April of 2008, Cedarville University’s department of athletic training merged with the department of exercise and sport science to create a new program. Today, the University announces the appointment of Dr. Evan Hellwig as chair of the recently modified department of exercise and sport science.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and lead a department with the incredible legacy established by Dr. Don Callan and advanced by John McGillivray,” says Hellwig. “Being only the third person to chair the department in the long history at Cedarville speaks of the big shoes I need to fill.”
“I am excited about the future of the department,” he continues. “We offer a very diverse spectrum of programs appealing to just about anyone who has any interest in exercise, fitness, sport, physical education and allied health.”
Hellwig lives in Springfield with his wife, Kelly, and their children, Chelsie, Jordan, Deric and Lily.
