The Cedarville University School of Humanities welcomes widely recognized author and literary scholar Dr. Leland Ryken to campus on Thursday, October 21.

Ryken will make three presentations that are open to the public:

• 10-11 a.m. - Cedarville University chapel service to be held in the Dixon Ministry Center

• 2- 3 p.m. - "Valuing What God Values: A Christian Defense of the Arts" to be held in the Stevens Student Center

• 4-5 p.m. - "Approaching the Bible as Literature; A Missing Ingredient in Biblical Scholarship?" to be held in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies

Ryken is the Clyde S. Kilby Professor of English at Wheaton College and has written more than thirty books as well as over a hundred articles and essays. He received the Gutenberg Award in 2003 for his contributions to education, writing, and the understanding of the Bible. Ryken has also served as Literary Chairman for the English Standard Version of the Bible.
