Cedarville University welcomes Adam Johnson, Ph.D., to the faculty of the department of biblical and ministry studies. Johnson will be serving as assistant professor of theological studies.
Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Biola University and his master’s degree in New Testament from Talbot Theological Seminary. He received his master of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and his doctorate in theological studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has published articles on the doctrine of the atonement in JETS and IJST and his dissertation, published with T&T Clark, will be available this May: “God’s Being in Reconciliation: The Theological Basis of the Unity and Diversity of the Atonement in the Theology of Karl Barth.” He served as a teacher and adjunct professor at several other schools and universities before coming to Cedarville.
“I chose to teach here because I was convinced that I would be working with a great faculty with whom I could be good friends, that Cedarville was a big school with resources to do some really neat things in terms of educational opportunities for its students and because I am wholly committed to a true liberal arts education and would love to see that vision more deeply embraced here at Cedarville,” described Johnson.
Johnson draws inspiration from the theologians of the church such as Athanasius, Anselm, Calvin and Barth and uses their insight to explore the Bible in new and exciting ways. He uses his love of theology in the classroom as he encourages students to think rigorously about all aspects of their lives in light of the Gospel.
Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University attracts 3,300 undergraduate, graduate, and online students to more than 100 areas of study.
