Cedarville University welcomes Kristi Coe, M.S., RN, to the faculty of the department of nursing. Coe will be serving as an instructor in nursing.
Coe received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Cedarville University and her master’s degree in nursing and health systems management from The Ohio State University. She serves on the board of directors for the Living Well Clinic, a clinic for the disadvantaged or marginalized in Greene County.
Coe first decided to pursue a career in health care as she watched a high school friend combat a serious illness. She observed the difference that a good nursing program had on her friend’s physical and emotional health, so she decided to help others in the same way. She continued her education in health systems management after observing the economic and political implications that health care has in today’s society.
Coe teaches courses that focus on improving health status and preventing disease. These classes teach students to translate knowledge from acute care settings into home and community settings. In addition, she oversees nursing clinicals where students will demonstrate their knowledge in a real-world situation.
“I love to see their leadership, initiative and work ethic emerge in the clinical situations in which they find themselves,” Coe said of her students. “I also love walking away from these community organizations and agencies knowing that we made a small but hopefully lasting difference in the work they are accomplishing in the community setting.”
