Cedarville University invites the community to join Dr. Harry and Echo VanderWal in chapel on November 3, 2011. Cedarville University graduates of 1996, the VanderWals now serve with The Luke Commission in Swaziland, ministering to those in poverty and medical need. The VanderWals have served with The Luke Commission since 2004.
Harry VanderWal, doctor of pediatrics and internal medicine, dreamed of serving on the global mission field since his freshman year in college. After graduating from Cedarville University, Mr. VanderWal completed his residency training in pediatrics and internal medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2006.
Echo VanderWal dreamed of serving Christ in Africa since she was 8 years old. After graduating from Cedarville University in 1996, Mrs. VanderWal went on to graduate from Kettering College of Medical Arts in 2000 as a physician assistant. Mrs. VanderWal first practiced in surgery and then moved to pediatrics.
Now ministering in Africa with their four sons, the VanderWals are living their dream of serving Christ on the overseas mission field.
At the Luke Commission in Swaziland, the VanderWals work alongside 15 highly-trained Swazis to provide healthcare to 25,000 rural patients each year. The Luke Commission is a faith based, non-profit organization that provides HIV/AIDS and TB interventions to the people of Swaziland with an integrative and biblical approach.
The VanderWals will visit Cedarville University on November 3 and will speak during the chapel hour at 10 a.m. The event will be held in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center at Cedarville University. The event is free and open to the public.
