Cedarville will offer a principal licensure program (PLP) starting in June for teachers to be licensed as administrators. Steve Gruber Ed.D., chair of the department of education, said Cedarville’s program is distinct in its focus on scholarly work and strong biblical integration.

The program is open to teachers with master’s degrees and at least two years of experience at the grade level for which they seek a principal license. The curriculum includes 32 credit hours and an internship under a cooperating principal at the student’s school.

Gruber said Cedarville developed this program in response to interest from its Master of Education students. The University offers several PLP courses as electives in the M.Ed. program. Gruber said the University will offer the entire program online as soon as possible so that educators around the world can receive the credentials to be licensed as administrators. The M.Ed. program is already available online.

The two-week summer term is June 10-21 and includes four credit hours. Fall and spring classes will be offered in eight-week terns, and students can complete the program in two years by taking two courses per semester. The PLP costs $398 per hour, just like the M.Ed. program.

Gruber said Cedarville’s program will prepare Christian teachers to serve in positions of influence. “We’re preparing educational leaders from a biblical worldview,” he said.
