Advancing in today’s workplace often requires a graduate degree. Cedarville University
desires not only to provide training for advancement, but to equip Christian men and women to leaders in their professional circles. To help students achieve these goals, the university recently created a team to actively recruit students for its graduate and adult programs.
Under the leadership of Joel Tomkinson, director of graduate and adult partnerships, the new team is sharing with prospective students how Cedarville’s programs are equipping students to be successful in the workplace.
Tomkinson said that he hopes to attract students who are “committed to their faith and view their work place as an opportunity for them to use that for Christ.”
In addition to contacting alumni about the new programs, Tomkinson said that his new staff members are reaching out to hospitals and businesses in hopes of cultivating relationships that will increase interest in Cedarville’s new programs.
Trent Hayes, enrollment director for business programs and Leanne Rubosky, enrollment director for health care programs both have backgrounds in marketing and customer service. These are skills that Tomkinson said are essential to being successful in helping students find Cedarville’s new graduate and adult programs.
Hayes’ primary focus is on the M.B.A. program. Prior to acquiring his enrollment position at Cedarville, he worked in development and fundraising on the university level, as a church pastor and planter and as an adjunct professor at a university in central Ohio. He also has business experience Hayes holds a Th.D. in Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary, a M.S. in Higher Education from Capella University, a M.A. in Theology from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. Tomkinson said that the skills that Hayes has developed through these experiences make him a great asset to the team.
Rubosky represents all of the graduate and adult health care programs. She has 20 years of sales experience and is very well equipped at developing contacts. Prior to accepting her position at Cedarville she worked for two large property development companies in Pennsylvania as a leasing agent. She has experience in cold calling, networking and tenant recruiting in the business and retail world. Tomkinson said, “She is a natural networker and developed contacts in commercial real estate sales so that is very transferable into the type of work that we do. Her role is to connect with health care organizations and hospitals, so I think that she will be a great fit.”
