The broadcasting and digital media program at Cedarville University and two internships prepared 2012 graduate Sean Gowdy for his lifelong dream – a career in Hollywood.

As a student at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center and intern with KO Creative, Gowdy made strong connections with people in the industry, constantly worked to improve his craft and expanded his knowledge of how the industry works. After graduating from Cedarville, Gowdy completed another internship with America Cinema Editors (A.C.E) and shadowed feature film editors. Along with these internships, an initial job as a production assistant on a feature film and work on set for 12 episodes of Glee at Paramount Studios prepared him to relocate to Hollywood for his current work as a freelancer creating video content. Gowdy’s ultimate dream is to start his own production company and edit feature films.

As a video and editing freelancer with a music studio and record label, Gowdy creates music videos, behind the scenes footage, edits promotional videos, goes on tour and recently designed a band’s album artwork for iTunes. Gowdy’s past freelance projects include work for Nike, Sony and recording artist will.i.am.

Cedarville was foundational to Gowdy’s career in Hollywood and his walk of faith. “Cedarville gave me the opportunity to make lifelong friends,” Gowdy said. “It also provided me with the skills necessary to launch my career, and certainly helped strengthen my faith.”

Gowdy said Cedarville gave him the tools to positively influence culture. “At the end of the day, I just want to do excellent work, live a life that points others towards Christ and ultimately work on projects that have a positive impact on our culture,” Gowdy said. “God continues to bless and open doors.”
