The school of pharmacy at Cedarville University will hold its third-annual White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center.

This event celebrates students who have finished three years of the pre-pharmacy program and are now entering into the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The white coat ceremony signifies the importance of their role as a student pharmacist.

“I have great confidence in the ability of these 37 students,” said Ginger Cameron, Ph.D., assistant dean of assessment and assistant professor of pharmacy practice. “Each student has adjusted exceptionally well to the pace and rigor of the pre-pharmacy program, and I am certain they will excel at the next level of their education.”

After receiving their white coats, students will recite the Pharmacist’s Oath, in which they will pledge themselves to the work of pharmacy.

“I am very pleased with the quality of students that our program has attracted,” said Marc Sweeney, Pharm.D., dean of the school of pharmacy and professor of pharmacy practice. “I believe that our students receiving their white coats, in recognition of their entrance into the Doctor of Pharmacy program, are the future leaders in the profession.  Our faculty members are leaders within the profession, and our students are following their lead,” said Sweeney.

With the new class of professional pharmacy students, Cedarville University currently has 133 students in the graduate program.
