Cedarville University’s theatre program received public affirmation as it earned 21 DayTony awards for the 2012-2013 season. The DayTony Awards are presented to high schools, colleges and communities for outstanding performances in theatre.

Among the awards, Cedarville’s program received the Outstanding Overall Production award for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Cedarville was one of five recipients for this award chosen from among 41 entries.

All three of Cedarville’s productions, “Over the River and Through the Woods,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and “Tartuffe, or the Imposter” were recognized with awards, which were accepted by Rebecca Baker, associate professor of theatre, at the Awards Gala on August 3.

“It’s affirming to be recognized by the Dayton theatre community in this way,” said Matthew Moore, associate professor of theatre. “The students put in long hours to produce these excellent shows and to be honored by the DayTonys is special.”

Of the awards, 19 were given to individual members of the cast and crew and two were presented to the cast and overall program.
