Skype Sessions

Skype (TM) If you are a nonresidential student, you may now access the writing center's tutoring services through Skype.

Be sure your computer has a webcam and microphone. Most laptop computers have these built in, but not all desktop computers do. Download Skype and set up an account. Once Skype is up and running, add "CUWritingCenter" as a contact. You can search the Skype directory to find us.

You can then access tutoring via Skype by making a 30-minute appointment between 7-9 p.m. Sundays and 7-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday. You can learn how to create or change an appointment on our online schedule here. Specify in the "comments" box of your online appointment form that you want to use SKYPE. (If you do not do this, the tutor has no way of knowing you'll be calling and thus, will assume you're coming in for a regular appointment.) You must then initiate the call at your appointment time. Please be patient if a tutor doesn't answer your call immediately. Sometimes a tutor cannot answer your call because he or she is finishing up an earlier appointment with another student. If you do not get an answer at first, wait two or three minutes, then call again. If a tutor still doesn't answer your call, then try calling the writing center's phone at 937-766-3245.

Because of staff and resource limitations, we cannot offer Skype tutoring to current students who live on campus. We cannot make any exceptions. If you live on campus, please make your appointments during our regular hours and plan to come to Tyler 104 to meet with your tutor.
