What is the cedarville1card?

The cedarville1card is the new Cedarville University ID card. In addition to providing you with traditional ID services, you’ll have the option of linking your card to a Fifth Third Bank checking account.

Card functions include:

  • Photo ID
  • Centennial Library card
  • Recreation Center access
  • Access to residence halls and secured classrooms
  • Dining hall access
  • Chapel attendance tracking
  • ATM withdrawals*
  • PIN-based debit card transactions*

*Available when card is linked to a Fifth Third Bank checking account

What if I don’t want to have an account at Fifth Third Bank?

You have the opportunity to select whichever bank you choose. However, in order to use your cedarville1card with debit and ATM card capabilities, you must be a Fifth Third Bank account holder. If not, you’ll have a fully-functional student ID card but without debit and ATM card capabilities.

Is there a charge to use my cedarville1card at a Fifth Third Bank ATM?

No, there are not charges to make withdrawals or deposits with your cedarville1card at Fifth Third Bank ATMs. And better yet, there are two Fifth Third Bank ATMs on campus!

Can I use my cedarville1card at a non-Fifth Third Bank ATM?

Yes, your cedarville1card can be used at any ATM. Fifth Third Student Checking allows up to five free non-Fifth Third Bank ATM transactions per statement cycle. This means you will not incur a fee from Fifth Third Bank to use another bank’s ATM. However, keep in mind that the other ATM owner may charge a fee.

Can my cedarville1card be used as a credit card?

No, the card will only function as an ATM card and PIN-based debit card.

How can I sign up for a Fifth Third Student Checking Account?

Students can get their free cedarville1card during Getting Started Weekend (August 19–21, 2011). Representatives from Fifth Third Bank will be available to open your Student Checking account and to connect the cedarville1card to your Student Checking account.

How do I link my cedarville1card to my Fifth Third Bank checking account?

If you already have a Fifth Third Bank checking account (but not a Student Checking account), simply speak to a banker at any branch. Just provide the 17-digit number that appears on your card and they will link it to your Fifth Third Bank checking account.

Can I use these funds to spend surpluses from my student account at the cashier’s office?

No, a cedarville1card is not directly linked to your account on campus. However, if a cedarville1card is linked to a Fifth Third Bank account, it will operate just like a normal checking account. Debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals will be automatically deducted from your Fifth Third checking account.

Will Cedarville University have the ability to view my spending history or account balance using the cedarville1card?

No, your account information is confidential, and Fifth Third Bank takes necessary steps to ensure your account information is protected.

Where can I use my campus card for purchases?

Your activated cedarville1card will be accepted for free PIN-based debit card purchases at thousands of merchants nationwide. Ask your favorite retailers if they can do PIN-based debit card purchases, or simply look for a PIN pad by the cash register.

What should I do if I lose my cedarville1card? Will my checking account funds be at risk?

Since a cedarville1card requires a personal identification number (PIN) when used as a debit card, losing a card would carry little risk unless the person who finds the card knows your PIN. If lost, follow the standard process for lost IDs. After campus safety reissues the new card and voids the previous one, call Fifth Third Bank to connect the new cedarville1card to your checking account. For your safety, do not share your PIN with anyone.

Does Cedarville University share my personal information with Fifth Third Bank?

No, Fifth Third Bank receives no personal information from Cedarville University.
