More than 20 years ago Cedarville University hit a significant milestone as we celebrated 100 years of Christian higher education. Looking back over our history, we recognized that God blessed us with a foundation of strong academics, an unchanging commitment to biblical integrity, and numerous stories of success, giving us a rich narrative to share. In 1987, Dr. Murray Murdoch, Senior Professor Emeritus of History, presented a historical compilation of Cedarville's first century. We believe the book is still significant today -- and a great testimony of God's goodness toward the University.

In 2003, the book Cradles of Conscience: Ohio's Independent Colleges and Universities was published. Dr. Murdoch provided a one chapter synopsis of the history of Cedarville University. This chapter covers information contained in the first 100 years.  In addition,  Dr. Murdoch summarized the first 14 years of Cedarville's second century of Christian higher education.
