I've learned to let go of my own expectations and plans. Proverbs 16:9 says, "The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." I came into this semester with so many assumptions about my internship, my housing, my relationships, and my classes, and I am by nature someone who likes to plan ahead. God took those assumptions and has gently reminded me that he is directing my steps, whether or not I would have chosen them.

The faculty is one of the biggest blessings of studying music at Cedarville. They are all godly men and women who lead by example for their students in all that they do. Whether they are developing our skills musically or guiding us spiritually, the willingness of the faculty to disciple us and care for us personally is evident in every lesson, class, and concert. I have learned how to humbly pursue excellence, discipline, and creativity for God's glory.

The concept of innovation is needed in every organization and is applicable to a broad range of professionals. It’s the marriage of creative problem-solving with business, and it can serve anyone — people in charge of company departments, engineers, executives.

In ways I never imagined possible, I have seen the Cedarville art and design program prepare me to make creative breakthroughs and cultivate artistic talent. What a blessing to be a part of a supportive, rewarding department that teaches art in a Christ-centered way and helps develop professional skills I will use for a lifetime.

Liberal Arts is truly giving me a well-rounded education here at Cedarville. The flexible course plan allows me to choose classes that are specifically suited to my interests while holistically preparing me for life beyond college — in the church, my family, community, future education, and my career.

My time at Cedarville has encouraged me to grow in an environment where professors truly care for my well-being academically, spiritually, and personally.

At Cedarville I am able to pursue excellence in my academics while being challenged to pursue Christ and use the abilities He’s given me to glorify Him.

D.C. has provided me with some grand new friendships with people in the department that I have never even met before! We have grown so close in the short time we’ve been here, and it has been such a blessing to get to witness everyone growing professionally as well as spiritually.

The faculty go out of their way to serve students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage the world critically as a follower of Christ. The professors are not only incredibly knowledgeable in their fields, but they never cease to challenge me and push me to work harder, think deeper, and reach farther in my education and in my future career. I am beyond blessed to have been a part of this department.

Living in DC has been pushing my boundaries and helping me solidify good habits that will benefit me for years. I have been learning that God is present even here in DC; this place can be regarded with a sense of hopelessness or suspicion, but while it is lost, it also has a vibrant body of believers completely sold out, countercultural, and committed to the cause of Christ.

I would not trade my design degree from Cedarville for anything. It was the perfect preparation for where the Lord has me today: a healthy mix of technical skills, work ethic, project management, faith integration, creative thinking, and room for failure. I may never be an art director at the MOMA or win any awards for groundbreaking ideas, but I love what I do and feel more than equipped to do it.

If you are interested in History and Government, you have to spend a semester working and living in DC! The opportunities are endless, the connections are priceless, and the real world experiences will challenge your understanding and knowledge beyond your imagination. I would not trade this semester for anything!

The ELML department has been a major force in forming my critical thinking skills. Professors in this department encourage students to reach beyond their current worldview, resulting in better understanding of current events in light of timeless literature. This department thoroughly prepared me for success during my internship in Washington, D.C., where companies sought after high-level readers and critical thinkers to improve their overall quality and professionalism.

The curriculum here is challenging, but it has prepared me well for the next phase of my life.
