Course Description

The Cedarville University EMS Education Program was developed to meet the needs of the Cedarville University EMS squad, fire departments and EMS departments who are providing skilled emergency medical care to the communities they serve. Students receive valuable education through in-class sessions and experience real life situations during clinical hours and stimulations.

Course Overview

The course includes didactic instruction, laboratory practice and clinical experience in a variety of settings. Lecture and Laboratory experiences are coordinated with clinical experiences. Each student is expected to complete 20 hours of clinicals in addition to the classroom commitment. The EMS education training courses give students fundamental skills and intense training to prepare them for the National Registry Exam. After completing the course and passing the NRE, students will be qualified to provide emergent care in a pre-hospital setting to their level of certification. Students enrolled at Cedarville may be awarded three semester hours each toward general electives for EMT-B or EMT-I certification by the Registrar's Office when the certificate is presented.

A student cannot be kept from taking the course because of academic concerns, however the student may receive the recommendation that he/she not take the course at this time. It is highly advisable that the student take this recommendation seriously.
