Videos in Online Classes

Videos in online classes can be viewed in most internet browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox (free download here), and Apple Safari (free download here). However, you must first make sure you have installed the most recent version of the Flash Player, available for free from Adobe's website. A high-speed internet connection is also required for smoothest video performance. Here some additional tips:

  • If you are on campus using a campus computer, you can use Internet Explorer to access the videos, but you may encounter trouble installing the most recent flash player plugin. To solve this you can submit a Computer Service request. You can also try using the Mozilla Firefox browser, which can be found under Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox.
  • If you are on campus using your own laptop or other wireless device, you should make sure to using the cu-secure wireless network to connect to the internet. Other networks on campus may block streaming video and you'll just see a spinning wheel when you try to load the videos.
  • Finally, if you are off campus, make sure you install the appropriate plugins mentioned above, and that you are using a high-speed internet connection.
