Adolescent/Young Adult Licensure Programs
The adolescent/young adult licensure programs prepare teachers to work with students in grades 7 to12. The Ohio Department of Education has approved Cedarville University to issue Adolescent/Young Adult licenses for teachers in the areas of Integrated Science (comprehensive), Integrated Life Science, Integrated Physical Science, Integrated Physics, Integrated Chemistry, Integrated Mathematics, Integrated Language Arts, and Integrated Social Studies.
The course requirements for each licensure field are outlined in the catalog under the department which offers the major.
Early Childhood Education
Our program must meet each of the ten standards from the Council for Exceptional Children’s Knowledge and Skill Base for all Beginning Special Education Teachers of Students in Individualized General Curriculums. The standards are: Foundations, Development and Characteristics of Learners, Individual Learning Differences, Instructional Strategies, Learning Environments and Social Interactions, Communications, Instructional Planning, Assessment, Professional and Ethical Practice, and Collaboration. Special education majors must also have clinical experiences that are developmental sequenced and include the full range of abilities, types, and levels in a variety of settings. The students must be supervised by qualified personnel.
Middle Childhood Education
The Middle Childhood Education program is a unique program in that every major must choose two concentration areas for special study out of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. In addition to becoming proficient to teach two areas of learning, training in teaching
Multi-Age Licensure Programs
The multi-age licensure education programs prepare students to work with students in grades pre-K to 12. The Ohio Department of Education has approved Cedarville University to issue multi-age licenses in the areas of Music Education, Spanish Education, Physical Education, and Health Education.

Special Education
Cedarville's Special Education program is designed to prepare students to successfully minister to multi-age children and adolescents with special needs such as learning disabilities, behavior disorders, and developmental delays. We provide exceptional preparation for a career in a variety of educational settings. When you graduate you will be certified by the Association of Christian Schools International and licensed by the state of Ohio to work with special-needs students in both public and Christian schools nearly anywhere in the world. Our program has been designed so that students who are interested can take additional courses to also obtain an early childhood teaching license.
