ATTENDANCE is considered mandatory since this course is directly related to your certification. Deductions will be made for absences and late work. Punctuality is expected. "If you are early, you are on time! If you are on time, you are late!" Class attendance and participation in discussions and group activities is expected. It is understood that you may have situations arise that conflict with your ability to come to class. It is your responsibility to determine whether to attend class in these situations. However, information will be presented in class that is not in your texts, and your absence will be detrimental to your group activities. For this reason, failure to attend class will result in having points subtracted from your grade (unless you are able to pay for them with your Bonus Bucks). NO DIFFERENTIATION WILL BE MADE BETWEEN EXCUSED AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES. School sponsored activities are an exception (e.g. ministry teams, athletics teams, etc.). School sponsored absences may be made up with extra credit assignments - if you will be absent due to a school activity, talk to Dr. Heaton or Mrs. Dugle for the details. (The extra credit assignments used as makeup for school sponsored absences WILL NOT, however, earn extra Bonus Bucks - they will be used to MAKE UP for absences so that you do not have to pay bonus bucks for them.) Points will be subtracted in the following manner:
1 Absence- 2 points
2 Absences`-4 points
3 Absences-7 points
4 Absences-10 points
Each additional absence-14 points
Two TARDIES equal one absence. (Tardy is defined as less than 15 minutes late. If you are more that 15 minutes late, you will be considered absent.)
Participation points will be subtracted if, in the opinion of the instructor, the student has not adequately prepared him or herself or fails to participate in class discussions/group activities. It will be viewed as being equal to one absence. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO DOCUMENT ALL ABSENCES ON YOUR GROUP ATTENDANCE SHEET.

FIELD EXPERIENCE
Midway evaluation
Final Evaluation
Forms turned in on time (as assigned)
A positive evaluation by professors and your cooperating teacher is required for credit. State certification guidelines require completion of all field experience hours. Each absence after the first absence for illness must be made up (other absences are not acceptable).
ASSIGNMENTS:
Criteria/grading rubrics for assignments are given on the class web pages. If you have question ? ask. It is too late to ask for clarification after the assignment has been graded and returned to you.
Work must be submitted on time with your name, box number, and group number clearly indicated. Deductions of $5 Bonus Bucks in points will be made for work turned in without name, box number or group number clearly marked. "Printer problems" are not valid excuses since they usually result when work is completed at the "last minute." Late work is penalized 10% per day. Work is late when it is turned in beyond the final due date [see your syllabus for due dates, these may be extended ONE week with Bonus Bucks, extra credit assignment due dates may NOT be extended with Bonus Bucks]. Bonus Bucks can be used to extend due dates ONE week, however, no extensions will be given to extend the due date for extra credit. Bonus bucks are NONTRANSFERABLE, please do not share.
OTHER
ASSIGNMENTS:
Some assignments may be given, but will not be graded.
GRADING:
A separate grade will be given in each class based on the following scale:
| A | 96-100 points |
| A - | 95 |
| B+ | 93-94 |
| B | 89-92 |
| B- | 87-88 |
| C+ | 85-86 |
| C | 81-84 |
| C- | 78-80 |
Anyone who scores 80% or lower may receive an "Incomplete" until they have met with the professors to discuss continuing in the education program.
OUTSTANDING/AT-RISK LIST:
A t the end of the quarter, the professors will assess individuals in the class with regard to their performance academically, their professional behavior with regard to class attendance and their attitude as well as in several other areas. If we observe performance above the norm in a category, the individual will be placed on the "outstanding list." This list is helpful for future planning to determine academic awards in our department and in the university. If we observe individual deficiencies in certain categories, those individuals will be placed on the "at risk" list and the areas requiring improvement noted.
FINANCIAL AID:
Students will be paid 1-2 "Bonus Bucks" for being on time each day to class. Bonus Bucks can be redeemed for extensions on assignments or forgiveness for absences or lateness to class. For more information on Bonus Bucks, see the class web page. Bonus Bucks may not be used to pay for assignments beyond one week (no extensions for extra credit ? even with Bonus Bucks). Bonus Bucks are NONTRANSFERABLE, please do not share.
