Religion
Papua New Guinea has been effected
greatly by Christianity.
Can you believe that over ninety thousand people (2.6% of population) claim they follow no religion? Ten thousand other people (.3% of the population) claim they do not consider themselves as Christians. Now, the remaining 97% of the population say they are followers of the Christian faith. WOW! Christianity was first introduced in the 19th century by missionaries. Roman Catholic churches are mostly what you will find in Papua New Guinea.
The Christian faith, Papua New Guineans follow, can differ from what Americans believe. Most of the people believe in God but may practice their faith differently. They follow only one God but they have different ways of following Him such as magic and sorcery. The people follow what they believe because there isn't enough Christian influence in their country.

Religions found in Papua New Guinea consist of Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, London Missionary society, Anglican, Evangelical Alliance, Seventh-Day Adventist, and no belief.
