RELIGION IN JAPAN
By: Sarah Grapentine and Amy Stowers

Japanese people
practice three main religions.
They are Buddhism, Shintoism and Christianity.
Here is a quick overview of each...
BUDDHISM
¤ Buddha means "enlightened one"
¤ People who practice Buddhism usually
worship the idol Buddha.

This is a picture of a Buddhist temple.
SHINTOISM
¤ Shintoism is a very old religion in
Japan.
¤ Shintoism is the traditional religion of
Japan and since Japanese culture is very traditional, many people follow this
religion.
CHRISTIANITY
¤ Christianity is not looked on highly by
Japanese people.
¤ Many Christians in Japan are disowned by their families because of their
religion.
¤ There are missionaries in working in Japan to bring the Gospel to the
people but the mission field is hard.
¤ Missionaries have a hard time because the language is hard and because
tradition
is so important to the people.

This is a tract that Christian missionaries might use in Japan...
