Christmas in the United States

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas in the United States brings together many customs from other countries. People begin preparing early for this joyous time. They make or buy gifts for each other.

Many families in the United States have Christmas trees that they decorate with lights, ornaments, mistletoe, and holly. Christmas music is played everywhere.

The traditional celebrations that Americans take part in for Christmas come from many other countries and traditions. In the 19th century, the Victorian Christmas spirit and the German immigrants made up the celebrations which we know as tradition in America.

Vacation!! - Children usually have about two weeks of Christmas break off of school and usually they take part in Christmas programs at their school before they go on break.

On Christmas Eve children hang up their stockings to be filled by Santa Claus. Santa comes with his sleigh and reindeer and fills the stockings and leaves special gifts by the tree.

We give presents, toys, and candy at Christmas, but they don't compare to the greatest gift of all.... the BEST Christmas gift ever!
