Karen Power, Associate Professor of English

Karen Power

Biography

Professor Power serves as Associate Professor of English in composition, linguistics, Spanish, foreign language methods, and is also the TESOL program supervisor. She is a PhD candidate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Composition and TESOL. Her special interest is ESL literacy. She has been at Cedarville since 1995.

Interests

  • Karen lived and taught ESL in Tehran, Iran where she learned a lot about Moslem culture and developed a taste for Chelo Kabab.
  • She enjoys traveling abroad with her husband.
  • Karen writes and edits a column for the Ohio TESOL Newsletter and has published in ESL Magazine.
  • Karen has presented at numerous conferences including CCCCs, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, NCTE, Ohio TESOL, and the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana Regional ESL Conference.
  • She rode the Dragster, the fastest roller coaster ever, at Cedar Point. She has been known to scream hysterically on rides of this nature, but remained in total control throughout the entire 23 seconds the ride lasted.
