The Brass Choir consists of 20-25 brass performers with additional instrumentation added as necessary. The Brass Choir performs several major concerts each year, featuring the highest quality of brass choir literature.
The Concert Chorale has a membership of almost 60 voices selected by auditions in September and May. Repertoire is chosen from a wide spectrum of musical styles including choral masterpieces, sacred classics, anthems, spirituals, and contemporary works. Numerous performances are presented each year on campus as well as in churches, schools, and other venues. In recent years, the Chorale has toured in the Czech Republic, Austria, Puerto Rico, and England.
The Jazz Band has 15-20 members selected by audition. The group performs music ranging from the Big Band era of the '30s and '40s to contemporary jazz arrangements. The band is active in both campus and off-campus events.
Jubilate is a ministry team of approximately 40 vocalists and instrumentalist selected by audition. Repertoire is selected from a wide spectrum of musical styles representative of the various evangelical traditions. Numerous concerts are presented on campus and in churches with special application to weekend music ministry workshops and event-oriented presentations. Jubilate meets twice each week and takes an annual tour during the spring quarter.
The Men's Glee Club has a membership of 30 voices selected by auditions in September and May. Traditional repertoire is performed on and off campus throughout the school year, including spirituals, hymns, contemporary Christian, occasional classical, and popular music. Tours to surrounding states are scheduled annually.
Pep Band
The Pep Band is a volunteer group of more than 50 players. No audition is necessary. The Pep Band rehearses pre-season and then plays for all home varsity men's basketball games. The Pep Band is directed by John Harner, a 24-year veteran music teacher with the Xenia schools. He holds a B.M. from The Ohio State University and a M.M. from Wright State University and is a Conn-Selmer artist clinician.
The Symphonic Band is composed of approximately 90 members selected by audition. Performing quality band literature, the band has appeared before state and national conferences and in concert under the baton of such guest conductors as Jim Curnow, George Strombeck, and George Wilson. Several concerts are presented each year on campus, in churches, and in schools.
The University Orchestra is composed of 50-60 players selected by audition. The group performs challenging, high-quality orchestra literature in concerts on campus and periodic off-campus venues.
Women's Choir
The Women's Choir consists of 50 voices selected by audition. Repertoire embraces all historical periods and styles with performances given on campus and in schools, churches, and civic organizations.
