October 13 Dr. Bruce Curlette will give a clarinet recital titled “For Everything There Is a Season” on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of Cedarville University’s Dixon Ministry Center. His performance is free and open to the public. “The title comes from an idea I had after teaching through the book of Ecclesiastes at my church,” says Curlette. “Ecclesiastes talks of how life can be so unpredictable and varied and the only consistency is found in God. I thought it would be a good starting point to develop a recital program in which each piece is dramatically different from the others but shares the common thread of the clarinet and how God has enabled me to communicate through it. This creates quite an eclectic program that will hold the audience’s interest as well as reveal a little about my own personality.” Curlette currently serves as a professor of music at Cedarville. Previously a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, he has also served as solo clarinetist with The Mantovani Orchestra and as associate principal clarinetist of the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra. Curlette received his bachelor of science degree in education from Jacksonville State University in Alabama and his master of music in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music. He earned a doctor of musical arts degree in clarinet performance from The Ohio State University. Curlette has studied under D. Stanley Hasty and James M. Pyne. 7:00 PM Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall
