Biblical Viewpoint
Recognizing the need for compassionate care, the Cedarville nursing department grounds its education in biblical truth. Your coursework will cover ethical decision-making from a scriptural perspective.
The Importance of Character
Basing our stance on 2 Peter 1:5 – 8, your eight semesters as a nursing undergraduate will include course assignments to correspond with the eight biblical character qualities of faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love.
Global Impact
Cedarville makes it a priority to send students around the world through a variety of missions trips and other ministry opportunities. You may be able to share your knowledge and faith at hospitals and villages in places like Togo, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Swaziland and other areas of the world.
Christ-Centered Focus
Inspiring daily chapels, our one-of-a-kind Bible minor, worldwide ministry opportunities, and a biblical perspective in the classroom create a distinctly Christ-centered experience. Nursing is taught from an attitude of ministry in meeting the multi-dimensional needs of clients, families and populations.
Student Satisfaction
In a recent national satisfaction survey, our students ranked Cedarville University #1 among all participating colleges for commitment to academic excellence, career services, computer labs, and more.
State-of-the-Art Labs
The nursing department occupies the third floor of the engineering, nursing and science center. Clinical and simulation labs with high and moderate fidelity patient simulators are available for classroom use and the student practice of beginning and advanced nursing skills.
Highly Qualified Professors
Your profs (all with advanced degrees, no teaching assistants) will bring real-world experience and great teaching skills to the classroom — not to mention their hearts for God and for students.
Future Possibilities
The largest single major at Cedarville University, nursing represents 11 percent of the student body. For this, and several other reasons, the department is taking the next step: developing a Master of Science and Nursing (MSN) degree.
Well-Rounded and Job-Ready
Four area hospitals — and several others around the country — offer externships to Cedarville students. The BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has the full approval of the Ohio Board of Nursing. Graduates are eligible for admission to the National Council Licensure Examination for licensure in any state.
Career Opportunities
Experts estimate between 600,000 and one million new nurses will be needed by 2020. And hospitals request our graduates, often hiring them sight unseen. They can be found working in nearly every state around the country, including the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, the Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania and Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
