General Botany Study Guide

BIO 134             Dr. Silvius                                                                     GENERAL BOTANY STUDY GUIDE

READING and STUDY PLAN:

This General Botany Study Guide aims to assist you in developing an effective "study plan." It can serve you in the following ways:

  • The Study Guide explains each study assignment and outlines the emphasis of each upcoming class discussion. Just access it at my Home Page at http://www.cedarville.edu/dept/sm/silvius/index.htm. You will find the regular class discussion and laboratory assignments. Also, for useful internet links click HERE and make bookmark for your use.

  •
  • In printed form, CLASS DISCUSSION QUESTIONS and a STUDY OUTLINE can be integrated logically into your other notes and handouts to form a "Botany Journal" (see Syllabus, page 4). Organize the pages in logical sequence for easy reference and note-taking during class and for later study out-of-class.

  •
  • Successful completion of each assignment will enable you to come to class discussion having gained enough familiarity with the STUDY OUTLINE to use it as an aid to note taking, and a prompter for your participation in class discussion.

  •
Your first Assignment, from Chapter 1, can be accessed through the Course Schedule at the BIO 134 Home Page, http://www.cedarville.edu/dept/sm/silvius/134/134main.htm. If you are determined to excel in the mastery of introductory botanical terminology, concepts, and principles, consider how you could incorporate the READING AND STUDY PLAN into your personal learning style. Visit this page before you begin reading/study of Moore, et.al.'s interesting Chapter 1.
