Beachball Volleyball Tournament - August 23, 2008
What: The Beachball Volleyball Tournament is a huge all campus event that you will not want to miss. 1200-1500 students participate each year in this giant volleyball tournament played with 40" beachballs (OMNIKIN BALLS).
Who: The entire on campus population has been broken down into 56 separate co-recreational teams formed according to the resident hall brother/sister units (55 teams) and one (1) Off Campus team. All on campus students should contact their RA to sign up and off campus students wanting to participate should contact Andy Allgrim at 3895.
How: The format will include a round robin tournament within 14 divisions (four teams/division) lasting from 3:30-6:00 p.m. The top two teams from each division will then enter a single elimination tournament played from 7:00-8:30 p.m. to determine the 2008 Beachball Volleyball Champions. And yes, championship T-shirts will be awarded to the winners.
Why: The purpose of the tournament is to provide the opportunity for students to establish a team spirit among their brother/sister units, meet many other students, participate in a physical activity, and have a great time.
When: R.A. Promotion of event and team organization: August 17-21
Tournament Date: Saturday, August 23
Starting Time: 3:30 p.m. in the Fieldhouse and Gym (both air conditioned buildings)
Where: Divisions 1-8 will play their games in the air conditioned Fieldhouse. Divisions 9-14 will play their games in the air conditioned Gym.
