Class Dress

Our dress code seeks to provide a balance of community guidelines and room for individual taste. Both students and faculty like having a dress code which outlines a slightly more formal standard of dress for the classroom. In our campus culture, this policy expresses a sense of self-discipline and seriousness for the academic endeavor.

The following guidelines define our general expectations for classroom dress:
Summer School class dress for men includes dress shirts, sport shirts, sweatshirts or t-shirts and pants or jeans (no shorts). Class dress for women includes dresses, blouses, sweatshirts, or t-shirts and slacks, capris, or jeans (no shorts). Class dress for all students includes footwear.

Casual Dress

The main principles governing casual dress are modesty, courtesy, and avoidance of extremes that some might find distracting or offensive. Casual dress is in effect on weekdays after 4:00 p.m. Casual dress for both men and women includes slacks, jeans, T-shirts, and modest shorts (inseam of at least four inches). If spandex or tights are worn for recreational activities, shorts should be worn over them.

Please read the student handbook for more detailed information on hairstyles, jewelry, logos, etc.

» Community Covenant

Cedarville University students affirm yearly their commitment to the Community Covenant, which summarizes scriptural principles central to spiritual maturity and a healthy Christian community. Summer Studies students are expected not only to honor the covenant, but also promote it, by providing accountability, and when necessary, correction to their friends and peers.

» Computers

Residence hall rooms are equipped with a PC and printer as part of the computer information network, CedarNet. The University has the technical ability and legal authority to monitor access to on-campus and off-campus sites. The University may conduct reviews of network activity at its discretion. Although internet access is filtered, students should always exercise discretion when going online. Students should familiarize themselves with the Computer Regulations as listed in Chapter 8 of the online Student Handbook.
