Nelson Henning (Chair)

Photo of Nelson Henning Dr. Henning serves as the Director of the Social Work Program. He has special interest in the fields of chemical dependency, grief work, and family issues. Dr. Henning has many diversified experiences in the field of social work including: rehabilitation and corrections work, child/spouse abuse work, mental health clinic work, Employee Assistance Program Director, and also the Director of a 28-day Chemical Dependency Program. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986 and has been at Cedarville since 1994.

 

Christine Fulmer

Professor Fulmer serves as an Assistant Professor of Social Work. She received her undergraduate degree at Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania and her Master’s in Social Work at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Professor Fulmer serves on the board of the child and adolescent mental health and substance abuse counseling provider for Greene County. She is the Vice President of the Ohio College Association of Social Work Educators. Prior to coming to Cedarville, she served as Director of Domestic and International Adoption at a Christian social service agency. She also developed a therapeutic foster care program for an agency in the Philadelphia area. She comes to Cedarville with a background in child welfare, mental health and adoption. Professor Fulmer has presented at several conferences in places such as Hong Kong and Washington D.C. As a clinical social worker, her areas of competence are group dynamics, program development, and child sexual abuse.

 

Donald Hanna

Photo of Donald Hanna Professor Hanna serves as Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. His area of specialization is leadership, and he has published several books and delivered many seminars on police leadership. Prior to coming to Cedarville, Professor Hanna invested 32 years of his life in the field of law enforcement; 24 of those years were spent as Chief of Police. He is a former board member of the Police Executive Research Forum. He received his M.A. from the University of Illinois in 1969 and has been at Cedarville since 1995.

 

George Huff

Photo of George Huff Professor Huff is an Associate Professor of Social Work, serving as the Field Director in the Social Work Program. He received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Ashland University where he minored in social work and political science. He earned his master's degree in science and social administration from Case Western Reserve University. Professor Huff worked in child welfare, such as foster, adoptive, and volunteer services, for more than 25 years. During that time he also worked after hours investigating child abuse and neglect cases. Before coming to Cedarville, he was responsible for two Ashland University programs: the Outreach Program, which provided college classes in prisons, and the Partnership Program, where he academically advised college students. An independent licensed social worker, Professor Huff has been an adjunct faculty member for both Ashland University and North Central State College.

 

Patrick Oliver

Photo of Patrick Oliver Professor Oliver serves as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Director of the Criminal Justice Program. Prior to coming to Cedarville in 2005, he served 27 years in law enforcement, including Chief of Police in the City of Fairborn, Grandview Heights, and Cleveland, Ohio, and as Ranger Chief of Cleveland Metropolitan Parks. He also spent eleven years as a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Masters of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College. In addition, Professor Oliver has completed programs with the Penn State University Police Executive School, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School, and the Ohio Association of Police Executive Leadership College. He is also a Certified Law Enforcement Executive. Besides teaching and program development, Professor Oliver serves in many law enforcement organizations. These include the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police (consultant, trainer, and former President), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (consultant, trainer, and Civil Rights committee), the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (consultant, trainer, and the education and training committee), and as a Commissioner for the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

Professor Oliver and his wife have three children.

 

Robert Parr

Photo of Robert Parr Dr. Parr serves as Professor of Sociology. His previous and current interests span a wide range of experience in theology, cultural anthropology, the sociology of religion, marriage and the family. After coming to Cedarville in 1980, Dr. Parr was instrumental in establishing the Social Work Program and securing professional accreditation through the Council of Social Work Education. Dr. Parr earned his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 1987 and has been at Cedarville since 1980.

 

Susan Warner

Photo of Susan Warner Dr. Warner serves as Associate Professor of Sociology. Dr. Warner has presented many papers related to her field of interest, which includes homelessness, gender issues, family sociology and welfare reform. Before coming to Cedarville she taught at University of Akron, Balwin Wallace College and Lorain Community College. She recieved her Ph.D. at the University of Akron. She has been at Cedarville since 1999.
