CCA - Program Profiles

SEMESTER PROGRAMS THROUGH CENTRAL COLLEGE ABROAD

While Cedarville students may participate in any of the CCA programs, the two programs listed below are the ones we most often recommend.

VIENNE, AUSTRIA (German language intensive)

This German-language program is open to students of all levels of German, giving them the opportunity to combine their study in Vienna with an intensive language course at the Goethe Institute in Schwabisch Hall, Germany. Schwabisch Hall is located in the Kocher river valley surrounded by the castles and palaces of the Hohenlohe region. It is approximately an hour and a half from both Nurnberg and Stuttgart. Most students opt to participate in this one or two-month intensive German language program before moving on to Austria. The session provides the language preparation needed for the University of Vienna courses or continued language study.

Application packets are available in the Office of International Programs.

PARIS, FRANCE (French language intensive)

Founded in 1965, this program is one of the oldest continuously operating American programs in Paris. There is a full-time resident director who is fully committed to maximizing the students' study abroad experience, both academically and culturally. Her office is conveniently located i the Montparnasse area and includes a resource center, computers and a small reference library for student use.

The program is associated with three prestigious institutions in Paris: the Cours de Civilisation Francaise de la Sorbonne (CCFS), the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) and the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris (CCIP). The goals of the program are to provide linguistic and cultural immersion along with strong academic, professional and/or service learning preparation.

The program is open to students with any level of language skill in French, from true beginners to native speakers. Students may choose to focus on intensive language study, language and liberal arts coursework, or a language and business curriculum.

For those students whose language skills are equal to the challenge, the CCIP has developed an internship program for Central College in Paris students that combines coursework in business and economics with an intensive internship placement that offers a unique and meaningful professional and cultural learning experience (spring semester only). The Central College Abroad program also offers the opportunity for students at the appropriate language skill level to take coursework alongside their French peers at the Faculte de Sciences Sociales et Economiques (FASSE) of the ICP.
