Residence hall students and commuters should plan to report to the Dixon Ministry Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, August 15, or between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 16. Your room key and all of the other materials and information that you need to begin college life will be available there. • All students are required to attend the Fall Bible Conference, which begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 18, with a message from our President, Dr. Bill Brown.
  • Classes begin on Wednesday, August 20.

What about orientation (Getting Started), and what does it involve?

Cedarville's Getting Started program assists new students and their parents in their adjustments to campus life and acquaints them with their academic responsibilities and opportunities for involvement. Students and staff will greet you, direct you to where you need to go, and respond to any questions you may have. New students are expected to attend the Getting Started session at 6 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center on Saturday, August 16. A detailed schedule of orientation sessions for parents and new students will be mailed to all new students in early July.

What if I need a ride to campus from the airport or bus terminal?

We can provide transportation from either Dayton or Columbus. To schedule your transportation you must contact the Information Center directly at 1-800-612-0014 after Monday, July 28, and before Monday, August 11, in order to give them time to make the necessary arrangements. When you call, please have your arrival date, arrival time, and airline/bus number available. The following fees are payable to the driver:

  • From Dayton
    • Single student: $35
    • 2 or more students: $20 per student
  • From Columbus
    • Single student: $55
    • 2 or more students: $30 per student

When will residence hall students be notified of room assignments?

Our deans are working on housing assignments right now. You will be notified of your room assignment by July 15. We will do our best to make sure each student has a positive experience on campus.

What services are provided to commuter students?

This year more than 400 students will commute to campus. This includes married students, non-traditional students, students who live close enough to campus to commute from home, and approximately 200 students who have requested permission to move off campus. We provide a variety of services and programs to help off-campus students take full advantage of the Cedarville experience. If you are a commuter student, please plan to attend the new student orientation meeting at 5 p.m. on August 16 in the Dixon Ministry Center, Room 224. There will be a dinner for students and families following the meeting. Watch summer mailings for more information.

What about my car?

Freshmen may bring vehicles to campus. All vehicles must be registered through the Campus Safety Office and students are expected to be familiar with campus vehicle regulations.

Frequently asked questions about phone service

  1. Does every dorm room have its own phone?
All dorm rooms have a phone jack into which students may plug their personal phones. Please make sure that the phone is analog and not digital. Each dorm room is assigned a unique phone number shared by roommates. The local area code is "937," and all phone numbers will start with "766."
  2. Will I be charged for calls on campus and local calls off campus?
Calls made to other dorm rooms on campus and local calls are free of charge. During the fall semester, students will be provided a campus phone book listing all student extensions. The University also maintains a website with campus extensions that resident students can access.
  3. How can I make a long distance call?
Students will need to bring a calling card or credit card to make long distance calls. Students may not use their dorm phones to set up long distance services through any of the major phone providers.
  4. Are cell phones permitted on campus?
Students may use cell phones on campus, but they must turn them off during class, chapel, and other events during which they may be considered disruptive. Please check with your cell phone provider about coverage in the Cedarville area.
