Payment Information

Cedarville continues to be an outstanding value. Our goal is to provide quality programs at affordable prices and keep annual cost increases to a minimum. Cedarville continues to keep its costs thousands of dollars below the national average, while providing outstanding facilities and offering some of the best educational technology in the nation.

A college education is a major investment and requires financial planning. Although college costs have increased nationwide, the return on your college investment has never been higher. As you consider how to finance this investment in your future, please feel free to call the financial aid office. We want to provide you with the knowledge, options, and strategies that best suit your financial needs. If you filed a FAFSA, you should have already received your financial aid award notice (E-award). You may also review your financial aid awards online at www.cedarville.edu/myfinancialaid. If you have not received your E-award notice, please contact our office at 1-800-444-2433 or by email. We strongly encourage all students to file a FAFSA.

We want to express our commitment to assisting you in your financial planning. God continually provides for the financial needs of our students each year. We look forward to seeing Him do the same for you. As you continue to plan for the spring semester, let us assure you that we are not only busy planning for your arrival, but also are praying for God's hand to guide you as you seek to do His will.

With the start of college just weeks away, you may be anxious about costs and financial policies. The following information is designed to help you budget your college costs.

Click here to view your student invoice (Available beginning December 7) You will need your login/password information to access your invoice.

What courses will I be taking?

Academic advisors have developed tentative course schedules for all of our new students who have paid a reservation deposit. A copy of this schedule is listed on your invoice. On January 7, you will meet with an academic advisor to review your schedule and make any necessary adjustments. Your actual advisor will be assigned the first week of the semester. This will be a faculty member in your academic field or an advisor trained to assist students still in the process of choosing a major.

How do I pay my bill for Spring Semester?

If you have paid your $250 reservation deposit and have a course schedule, your invoice will be sent to your home beginning in early December. If you do not receive an invoice, please contact your admissions counselor to determine what you need to do in order to obtain this information. The invoice reflects your choice of a major along with any financial awards you have received. If you choose to change your course schedule, your amount due will be adjusted accordingly. Payment is due January 1.

Those who do not pay in full by January 1 will automatically be enrolled in the payment plan program. Tuition Management Services (TMS) is the exclusive payment plan option for Cedarville University students. The semester enrollment fee is $85. Enroll online at www.afford.com or by calling 1-888-216-4268.

Unless you indicate otherwise, you will receive future monthly invoices in your campus mailbox. If you prefer to have your monthly invoices sent to your parents, please complete and return the Financial Information Request Form.

How are the charges determined?

  • Tuition: Your tuition charge is based upon a tuition rate of $615 per credit hour.
  • Course Fees: Course fees vary with each course. The fees involved with the courses in your schedule are included in your invoice.
  • Room: The room fee is a flat-rate plan and includes a computer and printer in every dorm room.
  • Board: You may choose one of six meal plans.

What about state grants from Ohio and Pennsylvania?

To receive the Ohio Choice Grant, you must complete and return the Cedarville University Residency Verification form. Grants awarded from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Authority (PHEAA) will appear on the Financial Aid E-award and invoices of eligible students in January. Eligible students should have received prior award notification direction from the PHEAA.

How is my financial aid listed?

The invoice also lists the financial aid of which we are aware. Please check this against the E-award notification that you received earlier from the financial aid office. Call 1-800-444-2433 if you have questions about the awards.

Please note several things about the way your financial aid is posted on the invoice:

  1. Financial aid is originally awarded based upon the entire school year. However, your aid will be pro-rated for the remaining semester making up the academic year.
  2. If you are eligible for a Perkins, Stafford, or PLUS Loan, you will find the amount for the semester listed as part of your financial aid. If you are participating in the Great Lakes Electronic Funds Transfer process, your Stafford or PLUS Loan proceeds will be automatically deposited to your student account. If you are receiving your Stafford or PLUS Loan funds by check, you will need to endorse the loan check in order for the loan to be credited to your account. PLUS Loan funds received by check will be forwarded to your parents for endorsement.
  3. Grants and scholarships that are awarded by Cedarville will be applied to your account 10 days before the first day of classes or as soon as the financial aid office receives your completed E-award. Award letters may be completed online at www.cedarville.edu/myfinancialaid. Outside grants and scholarships will be applied to your account when the money arrives on campus from the donor.
  4. On campus employment will not be credited to your student account. Students are paid by-weekly from the payroll office for the hours they have worked.
  5. All students are required to sign and submit the E-award described above, and first-time borrowers must complete loan counseling before loans are released. Loan counseling is available at www.cedarville.edu/departments/financialaid/loanscounsel.htm.

How, when, and where do I buy books?

The Cedarville University Bookstore sells all the textbooks you will ever need for your courses. It is located in the Stevens Student Center and is open Monday through Saturday. The Bookstore accepts cash, personal checks, and VISA or MASTERCARD. You may purchase up to $1,000 in books using the money on your student account if you have a credit balance of at least the amount of your purchase.

The Bookstore and your respective professors can tell you exactly what book you will need for each course that you are taking. You can order books from the Bookstore by e-mail. If you purchase all new textbooks and supplies, you should plan on spending approximately $300-$500 per semester. Many students reduce that amount by renting or buying used textbooks. Note that texts can change from year to year and even from professor to professor. Check to make sure that a used book is the correct edition before buying it.
