Audio Visual Student Assistant

Responsibilities include setting up appropriate AV equipment in classrooms for faculty use and for events on the University campus and responding to technical problems with the equipment on site. Work hours are primarily early mornings, daytime, and evening: however some weekend service hours are staffed by Student Assistants.

Student Assistant

Student Assistants are responsible for the oversight of the two open-access computer labs during evenings and weekend hours. Primary responsibilities are to help students and other customers with technical questions, resetting CedarNet passwords, as well as monitoring lab printers for paper and toner. Additional duties include driving a golf cart to maintain the unattended computer labs, e-check and CedarPrint stations. Student assistants also serve as help desk support in the Information Technology front office between 8am-5pm weekdays. IT office duties include answering multi-line phones, transferring calls, greeting walk-in guests, and submitting technology service requests. Student Assistants must be able to lift and carry a 50# carton of printer paper. Professionalism and communication skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Office 2016 and Windows 10 is preferred. Training is provided. Sophomores and Juniors preferred.

Student Lead

The Student Lead serves as the senior user services' student worker and performs all of the assigned duties of a Student Assistant. Additional duties include providing second tier help desk support for customers and the other Student Assistants during evenings and weekend hours, resetting CedarNet passwords, helping plan and lead student worker training sessions, updating student worker documentation, and other duties as assigned. Strong professionalism, communication and leadership skills required. One year working as an IT Student Assistant is preferred. Student Lead must be willing to return to campus a week before fall classes begin for work shifts. Significant experience with Microsoft Office 2016 and Windows 10 is required. Junior or senior preferred.

Student Office Lead

Primary duties of the Student Office Lead include setting up and maintaining student worker online training and assessment through Atomic Learning and Moodle, and compiling quarterly help desk reports using Microsoft Excel 2016. Additional duties include answering multi-line phones, transferring calls, greeting walk-in guests, resetting CedarNet passwords, and submitting technology service requests. Most shifts are scheduled between 8am-5pm in the IT main office, however; the Student Office Lead also serves as a Student Assistant in the computer labs if needed. Professionalism and strong communication skills are required. One semester working as an IT Student Assistant is preferred. Training provided. Strong Microsoft Excel 2016 skills and experience with other Microsoft Office 2016 applications and Windows 10 is preferred. Junior or Senior is preferred.

Student Technical Writer

Primary duties of the Student Technical Writer include updating and writing new technical help pages (cedar.to/techhelp). Other duties may include updating and writing new training handouts, assisting with technical training classes, creating scripts and video editing of custom online training videos, and training other student workers. In addition, the Student Technical Writer will be answering multi-line phones, transferring calls, greeting walk-in guests, resetting CedarNet passwords, and submitting technology service requests. Most shifts are scheduled between 8am-5pm in the IT main office, however; the Student Technical Writer may also serve as a Student Assistant in the computer labs if needed. Professionalism and strong oral and written communication skills are required. One semester working as an IT Student Assistant is preferred. Training provided. Experience with Microsoft Office 2016, Google Apps, and Windows 10 is preferred. Professional Writing and Information Design, English or Journalism majors preferred. Job candidates will be asked to submit technical writing samples.

Student Technician

Responsible for maintaining and repairing university-owned PCs in offices, public-use areas and supporting student owned technology at the TechStop service center.
