Missions Involvement - Construction/Work Teams

Construction/Work Teams In the quest to expose students, faculty, staff, and alumni to a short term mission experience, MIS offers a variety of opportunities, one of which involves physical labor. Many entertain the misconception that "MIS teams" require some type of artistic ability or specialized training. While this is true in some situations, there is a great need for people willing to serve with manual labor.

There have been sixteen construction/work teams representing MIS traveling to such countries as the Bahamas, Guatemala, Israel, Jamaica, Mozambique, Romania, and Ukraine. They have built churches and dorms, dug ditches, painted, plumbing, helped with installed electrical wiring, and applied themselves to whatever job needed to be done.

In addition to their physical labors, many of these teams have incorporated evangelistic efforts in their ministry. They've taught Sunday School, assisted with vacation bible school, distributed literature, and related to people through personal testimony.

As in other fields of experience, several former MIS participants have gone on to dedicate their lives in a tentmaking ministry. Whatever the field of choice may be, God has a place in ministry for you.
