A Message From the Coordinator

As a Christ-centered learning community committed to the sanctity of life and the value of each individual, Cedarville University is committed to providing individuals with disabilities equal and integrated access to all its educational programs, services, activities, and facilities. This commitment is consistent with the legal requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Cedarville is committed not only to the legal requirements of the law but also to the moral and ethical responsibility to treat all members of the family with fairness. Fairness is not treating everyone the same. Fairness is providing everyone the opportunity to be successful while maintaining high academic standards.

In support of this commitment, Cedarville University formally designated an office to work specifically with students with disabilities in 1994. Since that time, the University, in response to the growing needs of students, has taken action by providing resources for meeting the needs of students with disabilities and assuring them equal opportunity to the Cedarville experience. Disability Services facilitates the provision of accommodations, academic adjustments, and auxiliary aids and services to students with a wide range of disabilities.

As the student handbook states, "You are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your college years hold the potential to be some of the richest and most rewarding years of your life. At Cedarville, a university education extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. Your education here will help you develop a mind for truth, a heart for God, friends for life, and service for eternity." As you embrace these opportunities, you'll also maximize your educational potential as we provide you the opportunity to fully access this experience.

I encourage you to contact Disability Services in the early stages of your college planning to familiarize yourself with our services. If you are planning a campus visit, please contact my office to schedule an appointment. Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
