Accessing Your Network Drives (Windows and Mac)


Web Browser

To access your network drive files through a browser:

  1. Go to https://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage.
  2. Enter your Cedarnet username and password.

This method of connection uses a secure server.


WebDav

WebDav uses https://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage. To map your network drives and access them in Windows Explorer.

Windows Vista

    1. Download and install the Windows Web Folders Update from the SPC Download page
    2. Open the Computer windows (Start > Computer), then click the Map Network Drive button along the menu bar
    3. Choose the "Connect to a website that you can use to store your documents and pictures" link. This opens the "Add a Network Place Wizard."
    4. Follow the instructions. When it asks "Where do you want to create this network place?" select "Choose another network location."
    5. For the address, use https://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/
    6. Enter your Cedarnet username and password when prompted.
    7. Right-click "Start" and choose "Explore."
    8. At the bottom, click the + next to "My Network Places." Your network drives are located under "Netstorage on myfiles.cedarville.edu."

 

Windows XP/2000

  1. Click "Start" > "Control Panel, " choose "Network Connections," and select "My Network Places" from the left-hand column (or double-click "My Network Places" on the desktop).
  2. Choose "Add a Network Place" from the left-hand column. This opens the "Add a Network Place Wizard."
  3. Follow the instructions. When it asks "Where do you want to create this network place?" select "Choose another network location."
  4. For the address, use https://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/
  5. Enter your Cedarnet username and password when prompted.
  6. Right-click "Start" and choose "Explore."
  7. At the bottom, click the + next to "My Network Places." Your network drives are located under "Netstorage on myfiles.cedarville.edu."

This method of connection uses a secure server.


Netdrive (Windows 95/98/ME)

You can map all of your network drives using the Netdrive utility. To map your drives:

  1. Download Netdrive and install the program.
  2. Click the "New Site" button and enter the following information:
    Site Name: MyFiles NetStorage
    Site Address: http://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/
    Server Type: WebDAV
    Drive: M
  3. Click Connect and use your regular username and password.
  4. Open Windows Explorer. (Right-click the "Start" button and click "Explore.")
  5. Click the M drive to see your network folders.

This method of connection uses a secure server.


Goliath 1.0.1 (WebDAV for Mac OS X)

You can map all of the network drives using this program. After downloading and installing Goliath 1.0.1:

  1. Open the program. The "New WebDAV Connection" box will automatically appear.
  2. Enter the following URL: myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage
    (The URL is case sensitive, so be sure to type it in exactly as it appears.)
  3. Enter your user ID and password and click "OK."
  4. Check "Install Certificate" and click "OK" when the security alert appears.

This method of connection uses a secure server.


FTP (H: drive access only)

WARNING: FTP connections are not secure. Your username and password are sent in a legible, plain text format easily captured. Do not use FTP to connect to your network drives with a wireless connection or off-campus.

Web Browser:

  1. To download your H: Drive files through a browser, place the folowing information in the "Address" or "Location" box:
    ftp://s1234567@myftp.cedarville.edu/
       (replacing the number 1234567 with your ID)
    -- or (depending on the format of your login name) --
    ftp://johnksmith@myftp.cedarville.edu/
       (replacing the 'johnksmith' with your login name).
  2. For password, simply use your Cedarnet password.

This method of connection does not use a secure server.

FTP Client:

You can access your H: drive through an FTP client.

  1. For the site address, use
        myftp.cedarville.edu

  2. For username and password, enter your usual CedarNet username and password.

This method of connection does not use a secure server.
