Faculty/Staff Recycling Information
Please note the updated lists of recyclable/non-recyclable materials as follows. These lists are accurate for every building on campus and will be updated as needed. We will also notify by e-mail when updates are necessary.
The BLUE cans under your desk and by the copiers are for recyclable material only. The following items are acceptable in these cans:
- Paper - computer, colored, glossy
- Cardboard
- Magazines - plastic wrapping should be off
- Newspapers
- Plastic bottles - caps need to be on
Unacceptable material, which should be placed in your regular trash can, includes:
- Tissues
- Tissue paper
- Napkins
- Paper towels
- Styrofoam
- Wax paper
- Paper plates
- Plastic silverware and cups
- Anything that has been contaminated by food or drink
We are in the process of creating central locations for aluminum cans in your lobbies and lounges. Please place only aluminum cans in these bins. If your department does not yet have a place for aluminum cans, please throw the cans in your regular trash can, and the custodian may sort them out.
We are also now providing a free service to all faculty, staff, and students to recycle rechargeable batteries and cell phones. Acceptable batteries include those found in cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, camcorders, two-way radios, and remote-control toys. Please drop off your batteries and/or cell phones to the recycling office at the Service Center. Thank you!
