Focus on the Education Department
- How long have each of you worked in this department and what are your positions? Laura is the Licensure & Testing Coordinator and is starting her 4th year here at CU.
Toi is the Administrative Assistant & Office Manager. She has worked at CU since 1972 and in the Education Department since 1978. Toi's first job at CU was in Chapel Records and she did all the recording by hand. She has also worked in Student Services and Admissions. - What do you do during the course of the workday? Toi makes sure all work is being completed in the office as well as managing student workers.
Laura assists students with questions concerning license and testing requirements for the State of Ohio. She also coordinates applications to the teacher education program and assists the Director of student teaching. - Tell us some little known things about the Prof?s you work with. Dr. Meissner entertains us in the lobby with his science experiments. (that's scary!)
Dr. Baumann graces us with his songs...i.e. "We're having fun"

Steve Gruber is a pilot, a Harley man and LOVES his grandkids!
- Toi, tell us some things about Laura that we don't know. Laura has a lovely voice, is an excellent soloist and sings for weddings. She has 10 bridesmaid dresses she wants to sell. "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride."
- Laura, tell us some things about Toi that we don't know. Toi is a race car driver at heart and would love to hot rod around in a sports car with her Italian leather driving gloves and silk scarf blowing in the breeze.
She loves her dog, Molly, and Toi has even called home to leave messages for her! (sounds like Molly and Toi are Animal Planet material!) - What is the most fun about working in this department? Toi likes working with Laura and the other people in the department.
They have had exciting things happen like when Laura had an avalanche of water come pouring out of her ceiling. They have interesting molds growing here and there and they have had gas leaks and sewer fumes waft through the building. All problems are of course attended to by our efficient maintenance staff.
They love to eat and party at every opportunity... birthdays, holidays and rainy days.
When it gets quiet during the summer, sometimes a candy fight ensues. Toi whips a piece over to Laura's office and it hits Laura on the head. Laura fights back with a Tootsie pop. At the end of the day they settle the war with chocolate kisses for everyone.
