March 30, 2015

webinarIf you are a parent of a high school junior, you have most likely already begun helping your student with his or her college search, and you may also already be feeling a bit overwhelmed with the process!

Navigating through the maze of higher education can be a daunting experience for parents. Where do I begin? How do I find the best college for my student? What factors should I consider? And, how will we pay for this new adventure?

Cedarville University is offering a FREE webinar to answer these and other questions on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 8 p.m. EDT. Registration is now open!

The webinar is led by Roscoe Smith, Associate Vice President for University Admissions at Cedarville, who has 25 years of enrollment experience ... not to mention he's a dad with two college students! You'll be able to ask questions throughout the presentation and gain insights to apply to your specific situation ... all from the comfort of your own home and personal computer.

Register now to be a part of this FREE, informative webinar. And, share this information with friends who are about to embark on this college search process with a son or daughter! All are welcome to attend; the material will be relevant no matter what colleges a parent or student is considering.

Parents of Accepted Students: Did you know that we are sending a Jeremiah Study Bible, compliments of a generous donor, to every new student for Fall 2015? Dr. David Jeremiah is a Cedarville alumnus and current member of our Board of Trustees. This gift reflects Cedarville's commitment to equip students for lifelong leadership and service through an education marked by excellence and grounded in biblical truth. Send your student's $250 deposit before May 1 to ensure a place in the Fall 2015 class, and we'll put the Jeremiah Study Bible in the mail to your son or daughter right away!

Summer Academic Camps Explore Career Interests (and Other Great Opportunities)

March 24, 2015

Summer Camps

Make this summer one your students will never forget by sending them to a Cedarville academic or sports camp ... or have them get a head start on college by taking a college course on campus or online from home!

Cedarville Academic Camps give students the opportunity to spend a week at Cedarville exploring the world of art and design, business, criminal justice, engineering, geology, journalism, medicine, music, psychology, theatre, worship ministry, or writing! Your students will accomplish much more than career exploration. Camp faculty will challenge them to make their career their calling. They will be challenged to consider how their gifts, skills, and interests can make a difference in this world for Christ. We've packed the schedule with fun activities, too, so students return home with new friends and great memories!

College Now Summer Studies is Cedarville's residential college study option for rising high school juniors and seniors. Students experience campus life and earn three hours of college credit. Choosing from a class in Spiritual Formation or Politics and American Culture, your student will study with a top Cedarville University professor in a small-class setting while enjoying campus life for two weeks (June 13–27).

Online course options and sports camps are other great summer possibilities at Cedarville! Learn more about all of these options at cedarville.edu/summer.

Deadlines for the summer programs are coming quickly! Find out more about how your student can apply and register to become a part of the Cedarville University summer experience today!

The Value of Internships

March 20, 2015

internshipToday's post is written by Jeff Reep, Director of Career Services at Cedarville University. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience as a basketball coach at the collegiate level and is a Certified Professional Career Coach. For the past 14 years in Career Services, he has built into Cedarville students and advanced Kingdom opportunities for graduates around the world. At Cedarville, Career Services helps students think about their career choice as a calling — the opportunity to use their unique God-given talents and abilities to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.

In today's job market, a college degree and a strong GPA may not be enough to win a desired job. With the overwhelming number of applications submitted for every job post, candidates have to fight their way to the top of a big stack of résumés.

Read today's full post to hear Jeff's advice to your student (and to you as a parent) for how to get noticed in a career search.

P.S. There is still time to apply for admission to Cedarville University. We continue to accept and review applications throughout the academic year. If your student has already been accepted, be sure to deposit now to secure his or her place in the fall class!
