A Bold, Biblical Approach to Geology

October 24, 2016

Rock formationsAt Cedarville, we approach the study of geology differently from most universities – even ones that call themselves “Christian.” As with every program we offer, our geology program boldly acknowledges the Bible as the ultimate framework for research and study, without sacrificing academic excellence. We are unashamed to adhere to a literal, six-day account of Creation and recognize God as the Creator of all life. We are honored to be included in Answers in Genesis’ select list of Creation Colleges.

Each year, Dr. John Whitmore, Professor of Geology, leads a group of students on a trip to the Grand Canyon, where they examine geological evidence that supports the biblical account of Creation and Noah's Flood. Watch the video below to experience a taste of this incredible trip.

Cedarville Professors Offer Expert, Biblical Opinion on Current Issues

October 19, 2016

Bereans at the Gate logo

In the spring of 2013, five Cedarville University political science, history, and economic professors joined together to create a blog – Bereans at the Gate – that offers a Christ-centered, biblical look at important issues affecting our nation. They address politics, economics, theology, history, law, and culture. As their “About” page explains, “We hope to use the insights we find to peacefully storm the gates that surround our fallen culture.”

There’s never been a time that our nation needed such godly counsel more. It’s been a tumultuous election season, to say the least. We hope you find this blog to be a valuable resource as you wrestle with decisions leading up to election day. It is exactly the kind of biblical integration your student will find at Cedarville University.

For those who live within driving distance of Cedarville, our Center for Political Studies is hosting Election 2016: History in the Making, a free community forum to help citizens navigate the issues of this important presidential election. The forum will be held Wednesday, October 26, from 7–8:30 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center on Cedarville’s campus.

Wall Street Journal Recognizes Cedarville for Student Engagement

October 17, 2016

Students working on assignmentsA recent Wall Street Journal ranking confirmed what we already knew — Cedarville University does an outstanding job of helping students engage with their education. The Journal listed Cedarville in the top 5 out of all U.S. colleges and universities for making students feel engaged, or involved, with the education process.

When the Journal’s reporter called to learn more about Cedarville's approach, our president, Thomas White, had the opportunity to share how our students engage with each other through chapel and ministries, how faculty bring an eternal perspective to their lectures, and how our student life programs are intentionally educating the whole person. He explained how Cedarville’s life-transforming educational approach can place a small Christian college in Ohio above all the Ivy League institutions because we are engaging students with a Gospel purpose.

According to the report, colleges that rank high in engagement offer an education that can have more depth and meaning. The level of engagement students feel determines how actively they are grappling with concepts and trying to apply them to the real world. If the curriculum is too challenging, or the community too distant, students may disengage. If classes are too easy or life a little too comfortable, they may float passively through school, absorbing little. It’s a difficult balance, and Cedarville is getting it right!

(Read the Wall Street Journal story to learn more.)

We are grateful both for this opportunity to be a Light for the Gospel and for the affirmation of the quality experience Cedarville provides. This is the kind of education your student can expect on our campus as well.

Encourage students to apply by November 1, and we’ll waive the $30 application fee. Contact our admissions team at 1-800-233-2784 if you have any questions. We are here to serve you!

Cedarville's Pharmacy Program Receives Full Accreditation

September 23, 2016

Photo of pharmacist at computerThis summer, Cedarville University celebrated the full accreditation of the School of Pharmacy by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). ACPE completed a multiyear assessment that culminated with the graduation of the inaugural 2016 Doctor of Pharmacy class in May. The School, under the excellent leadership of its dean, Dr. Marc Sweeney, enjoyed a seamless accreditation process, achieving each benchmark and receiving strong, positive reports at every phase.

Cedarville's School of Pharmacy is marked by exceptional quality and a heart for the Gospel. A strong, interdisciplinary approach and the intentional Christian mission set the program apart, as does the School’s impressive network of partner institutions and companies that provide training for students across the U.S.
