MK Transition Seminar by Barnabas International
July 18-30, 2010
Purpose:
The seminar provides helpful tools that prepare missionary kids (MKs) for the transition into life and college in North America. This is an opportunity to build relationships with other MKs and at the same time learn and discuss various issues related to the transition experience.
Participants:
The Barnabas International MK Transition Seminar is designed for MKs who have just completed their high school experience overseas.
Activities:
Orientation: We'll talk about American culture — the good and the bad, college life, friendships and dating, finances, and social customs. There will be opportunities to share in small groups, around meals, or in informal chats.
Assessment:
Personality tests will help you understand your unique design, assess your personal adjustment, and identify growing edges.
Adjustment:
Christian educators and counselors, with a heart for missions, will encourage and guide you in addressing areas for personal, social, and spiritual growth.
Challenge:
Daily chapel, evening dorm meetings, and informal chats with staff and fellow MKs will challenge you to trust God more fully.
Recreation:
There will be several off-campus social events and time to enjoy soccer, swimming, volleyball, table games, or just sitting around talking together.
