Launching Your Children For Life

Michael Parrott, Assistant Professor of Bible, Cedarville University
Developing the seven parenting skills necessary for discipling your children to maturity in Christ: prayer, vision, influence, modeling, leading, communication and discipline.

The Heart of the Matter

Ken Riley Executive Director, Lake Ann Camp - Michigan
It is time we sit down and have a "long hard talk" about what we are doing, why we are doing it and what results are we really seeing in our children's ministries these days. Ultimately, are we connecting with our students on a heart level? Will they be the next generation of Christian leaders or will they graduate from high school "two times the children of hell" in the same way Christ described the disciples of the spiritual leaders of His day. This workshop is about restoring hope to our children's ministries.

Salvation and Children: Letting the Gospel Do What God Intended!

Scott Bruns, Executive Director, Scioto Hills Christian Camp
In our zeal to share the Gospel and see the children we ministry to each week come to faith in Christ, we can often be guilty of "jumping the gun" or more accurately "jumping ahead of the transformation work of the Holy Spirit" by getting kids to make hasty, pre-mature decisions that far too often fail to produce life long fruit. The best researchers tell us that too many kids (70% or more) that grow up in the church leave the faith after high school. Not only is that staggering, it's unacceptable! Part of the problem may begin when we seek to "package" the gospel for little listeners making it too easy to "trust Christ". What, too easy to trust Christ? Don't we want kids to trust Christ? Absolutely! Isn't that our mission? Yes! But there is a big difference between getting kids to make a decision and letting the Gospel do what God intended! Attend this workshop and we'll discuss the difference and what you can do to make a life long impact.

Simple Games that Create Excitement and Divine Moments

Scott Bruns, Executive Director, Scioto Hills Christian Camp
Are you ready to play fun games? Learn some cool icebreaker games that can also be used week after week to reinforce Biblical lessons? The secret is keeping it cheap, simple and energetic. If you learn how to ask a few key questions the games can be applied to just about any Biblical theme. At Scioto Hills Camp, we call it a "Divine Appointment" or the truth God wants us to learn from the activity. Be on time and be ready to participate in this hands-on workshop that will make you a hero with your kids.
