National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART Grant)

This grant is for Pell-eligible students enrolled in their third or fourth year of undergraduate study. To qualify for the SMART Grant, the student must meet these criteria:

  • Federal Pell Grant recipient
  • U.S. citizen or qualifying non-citizen
  • Enrolled full-time, three-quarter-time or half-time in a degree program in an approved major in one of the following disciplines: computer science, engineering, critical foreign languages, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, technology, or multidisciplinary studies (view list of approved majors).
  • Collegiate GPA of 3.0 or higher at the start of each term for which the student receives this grant

Students who meet these criteria will receive the National SMART Grant in addition to their Pell Grant.

  • 3rd year - Up to $4,000 ($2,000 per term)
  • 4th year - Up to $4,000 ($2,000 per term)
