Criteria:

When is an applicant considered to be a transfer student?

A new student is identified as a transfer when they have enrolled in 12 or more college credit hours post high school graduation.

How is a transfer student's combined college cumulative GPA calculated?

For the Transfer Academic Excellence Award, the accepted transfer student's combined college cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher. The calculation will be made using grades earned in any of the following:

  • college courses taken through dual-enrollment as a high school student
  • college courses taken after high school
  • college courses in which the student is currently enrolled
  • college courses in process of completion at the time the admission application is reviewed

Note: Students may take college courses while still in high school without being classified as a transfer student. However, the grades earned in dual-enrollment college courses will be included in the Combined College Cumulative GPA calculation and used in admission and scholarship/grant decisions.

Renewable:

Yes, Cedarville's scholarships and grants awarded to transfer students are renewable as long as the student maintains the required Cedarville Cum GPA for the specific award.

  • Annual review is performed at the end of the spring semester.
  • The Transfer Academic Excellence Award requires a Cedarville Cum GPA of 3.2 for renewal.
  • The Transfer Access Grant and Diversity Scholarship require a Cedarville Cum GPA of 2.0 for renewal.

What if my GPA falls below the required Cum GPA? Am I able to renew the award(s) later?

  • Students whose Cedarville Cum GPA falls below the required Cum GPA at the time of annual review may later have their award reinstated if their Cedarville Cum GPA reattains the minimum requirement.
  • Reinstatement reviews are performed after each semester.
