So I just found out from my admissions counselor that I have been accepted. I am so totally excited! I can't wait to go. I remember visiting. Best college I have ever seen. The atmosphere itself is incredible and then all of the students are the kindest and most honest I have ever met. I have also been accepted into the Honor Choir and will be at Cedarville in February. Any one else as excited as I am? And if you have been accepted into some music honor program, Congratulations and I will see you in February!!

Congratulations on getting into the Honor Choir! My name is Hannah, and I'm an incoming freshman for the 2011-2012 school year too! I'm planning on majoring in Nursing, thinking about the Honors program, and thinking about maybe a second minor instead of the Honors Program.

I'm from Texas, and I love singing and music! I'm planning on being in the One Voice Gospel Choir - which is open to anyone. I went to a practice when I visited Cedarville, and it was so much fun!

Cool My mom is a nurse. Yeah I am excited about my major and minors, but it also means a lot more work for me because I am double majoring and minoring.

I have been to Texas a long time ago. It's really beautiful. Do you like it there?

That's awesome that you love to sing! What's your favorite music to sing and why? Are you an alto or a soprano?

P.S. My name is Marleigh. I'm glad to have sort of met you haha. =)

Wow! Cool! It would be really nice to meet someone that I'm going to school with.

I plan on double majoring in music and theatre and I also plan on minoring in missions along with the automatic minor of Bible.

How about you? What are your plans for the future? Also are you a bass or tenor? I'm a first soprano.

P.S. My name is Marleigh =)

That's awesome. My mom is a RN so I know a lot about nursing it never excited me though. Plus math and science are not my best subjects.

Where do you want to work once you're out of college?

Marleigh - you have a pretty name!

Texas is okay - hot in the summer, nice in the winter. However, I really love our church here where my dad is a pastor. Yes, I'm a PK. But don't believe the horror stories, I'm not a rebel! haha.

I've always sung first soprano and was in Varsity Choir for three years, but it didn't fit my schedule this year. I also sing as a substitute when I'm needed on our worship team. I'm hoping to sing in the One Voice Gospel Choir at Cedarville. I visited a practice when I was up there last fall.

Hannah- Thank you

I don't really believe the stories of Pastor Kids being rebels considering I have friends that are Pastor Kids. I also do know some that are rebels though. I think it more depends on your background and if you are set in stone with God.

I am first soprano as well and I sing in a select group at school. And I also sing on the worship team at my church.

I have a really nice church as well and am going to miss it a lot while I am gone.

I am also from New York and today schools closed because it is -14 outside. There's a lot of snow and the roads are always horrible.

I don't think I want to live in New York anymore. I plan on going to Pennsylvania and working at the Sight and Sounds Theatre.

Will it be strange for you to be cold in the winter? Where do you want to work when you are out of school? Also what do you plan to focus on most within your major (i.e. labor and delivery, ER...) What is your favorite thins to do in your spare time?

Well, I was born outside of Houston, Texas and we moved to Nebraska when I was about 4. We moved back to Texas when I was 13. So I will have to adjust back to a cold climate, but I won't be unprepared and freaked out by a couple of inches of snow!

The first winter we moved to Nebraska from Texas, I turned 4 and we had a huge blizzard that dumped almost 3 feet of snow on our tiny farming town with ONE SNOWPLOW! haha. It took us like 4 days to dig out all the roads so we were all snowed in.

I am thinking to do medical missions after college right now. I will probably work a little after school to pay of any college debts and to get experience in Labor and Delivery and ER. I think those two areas are very important when going to the mission field because many third world countries have very high birthrates and because I could see any kind of disease, wound, etc... as a missionary.

What are you planning to do after college? And how are you planning to pay for Cedarville? And have fun on your snow day!

Wow! That's a lot of snow. It's good that you're used to it though.

Yeah my mom used to be a labor and delivery nurse. We moved and their were no positions open so then she became and IV Therapy nurse and then decided that that wasn't a job for her and now she works at a women's health office. My mom misses labor and delivery. That's awesome that you want to go all over and help people that don't get a lot of it.

After college I will probably move back in with my parents for a while and try to get a job involving music or theatre. I want to work at the Sights and Sounds Theatre in Pennsylvania, however, I need the money to rent an apartment first. But then who knows maybe I will be able to save up enough money while I'm still in school. But basically I want to see how far I can go with my experience so I will be auditioning in NYC. I hope to be on Broadway, but it probably won't happen. It all depends on where God wants me to be.

To pay? Oh man. I haven't gotten any scholarship money yet and my parents are unable to pay for any of my tuition besides the first $200+. But I figure that if I am doing what I love and what I really want to do for the rest of my life then that's a mute point. I believe that God will provide, maybe not now, but at least in the years to come. So I am not extremely worried about it. It's just a bit stressful when you don't even have your books paid off from scholarships or grants. Luckily I have been nominated into a Scholars thing that is supposed to help with scholarships.

What about you? How will you pay for college?

The Sights and Sounds Theatres are awesome. My grandparents live in Branson, MO and we have been to see a number of plays and musicals there. We saw the musical Noah which was really awesome. Are you from Pennsylvania? My sister lives in Philly and goes to the University of Pennsylvania.

And... my best friend is planning to go to Oauchita Baptist University down here in the South and study musical theatre. She's thought about trying for Broadway, but she kind of wants to perform on Disney Cruise Ships. She's very adventurous!

Um... well like you my parents can't really contribute anything except the first $250. I applied for the Cedarville Scholar Program and I find out by Monday if I advance to the semifinalist round. I've applied for like 15 other outside scholarships - like the Walmart, Best Buy, Lowes, etc... I'm just praying and trying to trust God to provide the money to go.

Oh I know! I went to see Joseph with my youth group! It's literally amazing! I had so much fun and I hope to be working at that amazing place.

No. I don't live in PA, I live in NY, but I need a change of scenery I guess you could say, plus NY rips you off all the time. Does your sister like Philly? I've always wanted to go there.

Yeah I want to be in theatre and see how far I can get, but if Broadway isn't God's wish then so be it. Disney cruise lines! Now that would be fun.

Yeah I think with the money issue that's all we can really do. But I believe that God will provide somehow, someday. Keep me posted on the scholarships.

My sister loves Philly. She actually lives there year-round (even the summers) because she has an almost full-time job. She's crazy. She's taking like 22-24 hours of classes and working a lot. She has a full-ride scholarship but she's just the type of person to work herself half to death.

No news yet on the Cedarville Scholar, I'm a little nervous but trying not to worry about it. I tend to be a worrier.

Wow she works a lot. How is she able to sleep and relax? That's awesome that she has that scholarship though.

I'm sure you've got it. Don't worry just trust in God.

My sister is very high energy so that helps, but I really don't know how she handles it all.

And God is definitely working on my patience. Since Cedarville has had the ice / snow storms they have been basically closed down yesterday and today so I have to wait on finding out about the Cedarville Scholar Award. haha.

Hey Hannah,

My name is Mary and I am also going to be a CU Freshman this fall (2011). I just read your post about applying for outside scholarships. Where did you find out information about the Walmart, Best Buy, etc scholarships? And did the deadlines already pass for them?

Thanks, Mary

Yeah that makes it more difficult to wait because of the snow storm and everything.

Well I didn't advance in the Cedarville Scholar Competition, which was definitely disappointing. But I wish the semifinalists luck!

Mary - I'm glad you will be joining us? Where are you from and what are you interested in studying?

As for outside scholarships, our high school puts out a bulletin with different scholarships and information on it. I htink the Best Buy scholarship is still open, but a lot of corporate scholarships will be closing soon. You might look at fastweb.com and create an accoun with them and they find scholarships that you might qualify to apply for. You might check a Burger King and Lowe's Scholarships - just google them. I'm not sure when the deadlines are but they will definitely be soon if they haven't passed yet.

I hope that helps!
