I'm a transfer student and I'm just wondering if there are many Reformed people at CU.

Let me tell you a story and you be the judge... In my intro to art class we were discussing the change in art during the reformation between the protestant art and the catholic art and my teacher said, "Of course we all know what Luther's main point was and basically what the whole reformation was about... and that was...?" He got blank stares... "You people should be ashamed," he said, "You know, that whole justification by faith deal." So, many reformed? Certainly not. Some? Oh yes There are a "select" few Welcome to the ville by the way. -jon

I would like to open this topic back up again. I'm Reformed, and I'm just wondering how many like minded people are out there? I plan to commute back to my home church every Sunday, cause its not too far away.

Hi Paige, I "not too far away" is releative My home church is 1.5 hours away in Cincinnati. My grandpa is the pastor and all of my family goes there, so 1.5 hours is worth it to me. I'll be going home a lot of weekends, but i'll also be driving on Sunday mornings. I'd love to talk more, so shoot me an email! mimigrace08@gmail.com Emily

Hi Paige! I am also reformed (reformed baptist, that is). I have found a couple of reformed baptist or baptist-leaning church that are much closer than Cincinnati. Kemp Road Baptist Church is in Beavercreek, an eastern suburb of Dayton, and I would guess that it would be about a 30 min. drive from Cedarville. It is an ARBCA (association of reformed baptist churches in america) church; I previously attended another ARBCA church, and it was throughly reformed, both in preaching and worship. Cornerstone Bible Church is in Xenia, about 15 min. away. It is an independent reformed church, but it seems they also hold to believers-only baptism. Hope that helps!

I'm glad you revived the thread, Paige! I don't really know anything about RCA, but any differences are probably in non-essentials. ARBCA (and probably all reformed Baptists) are very conservative. Reformed baptists are obviously Calvinistic, and as being baptists, they are principly different from other reformed churches in that they hold to believers-only baptism, the independence of the local church (churches are not governed by an outside body, such as a synod, though they do have associations with other churches), and non-liturgical worship. As far as I know, ARBCA is the only reformed baptist association, though there are reformed churches in non-reformed baptist associations (I currently attend a semi-reformed Regular Baptist church, there are also reformed Southern Baptist churches). I don't think "reformed baptist" churches have been around very long, though historically (pre-20th century) most baptists and also most protestants were actually reformed. I have been a reformed baptist for only about four years, having come from a non-reformed Southern Baptist background. As far as churches go, it seems like I noticed that there were some other reformed ones near Cedarville, but I can't remember what they were.

I am reformed, but I am excited to attend any Christ-centered, Bible-loving church. I'm from Vancouver, WA and I wish that I could bring my church with me, but I guess thats impossible =). I'm so excited though!

Welcome to Cedarville!

Cornerstone Bible Church is about 15 minutes away from school, and it is an excellent Reformed Church. I attend there when i can't make it back to my home church. I highly recommend it!
