Hi, my name is Mitch McClure, and I'll be transferring from Bowling Green State University for the Fall 2010 semester as a sophomore. I honestly feel like I'm entering as a freshman, considering that I don't know the Cedarville landscape at all. I'm considering joining the cross country team for the Fall 2011 season. As with most students attending Cedarville, I'm deeply in love with Jesus Christ. I like gardening, playing basketball, and am planning to major in Preseminary Bible, minoring in Bible (obviously), Missions, and History. Are there any other transfer students out there? If so, I'd like to get to know you!

Hey there Mitch!
Yup, i'm coming in this fall as a sophomore too! And even though I visited once, I still don't quite know the landscape. So you won't be the only one feeling like a freshmen. I'm going for a major in Computer Science and minoring in Bible and Graphic Design. Man do I enjoy hanging with friends and throwing a frisbee, so i'm sure there will be some of that going on I honestly don't know all the kinds of physical sports they have at Cedarville. But I think I saw something about a self defence or tae-kwon-do thing? I'm interested in that. I did a martial art called Haedong Kumdo for a few years (red belt) before I had to quit because of time and money Yah, so that's not even close to all about me, but it's a very brief preview. In Christ, Andrew Stoker P.S. I see you're favorite verse is II Corinthians 13:5. Mine is Psalm 42:11. ------------------------- In Christ, Andrew Stoker Psalm 42:11 |

Aaaaannnnd If you couldn't tell, I use emoticons... Sorry bout that man.
I use facial expressions a lot in real conversation (you could read my face better than my mouth), so it's hard for me to refrain from using them here. ------------------------- In Christ, Andrew Stoker Psalm 42:11 |

Hey, I'm not a transfer student (sorry), but I am in the sophomore class, and I just wanted to encourage you guys that we have a great class that's really accepting! Although it might be a little confusing at first, you should fit right in and find lots of people. Some of my closest friends are transfer students!
Andrew, I do have some information for you about the martial arts program. They do have offer a self defense course for credit, but it's only for women. However, this year we'll be offering two martial arts classes: Krav Maga and Kenpo. The guys who are teaching Krav Maga (or Self Defense and Physical Training) are some really good guys: they do a lot of ground work and work on each other. They seek to be nontraditional, and they're really excited about this coming year. (I know them personally because I went to that class last year.) The second class is our new class, which is Kenpo. I'm actually teaching it. I've been training for over five years. I'm also focusing on self defense, but I'm going a lot more traditional by sticking to a system and learning moves and then applying them. The nice thing is that both arts compliment each other well, so you are welcome to even take both! Both classes are free for you, so hope to see you in class. You guys will both fit into the sophomore class just fine. Hey Andrew! Glad to meet you! Where are you transferring from? I love throwing a frisbee.....except my dog can't throw it, so I'm out of luck for a return. What dorm will you be staying at? I've actually asked some of my friends, who don't know that I'm going to Cedarville, "Am I going to Oakville, Mapleville, or Cedarville?" It's a lame but funny joke....I think anyways

Hmmm....Saline, Michigan. Is that near Holly, Michigan? If so, I ran a race there in 2008 for Cross Country. Music?! I'll be in the Men's Glee Club, unless something horrendous happens. I was actually in the Bowling Green Men's Chorus last year. What other things do you enjoy, Joy?

I'm not a transfer student (anymore), but I was last year. I did way more research than I really needed to (and maybe more than I should have, haha) before I went to CU, so I didn't really feel like a freshman usually (plus, I transferred as a junior), but there were definitely a few times when I felt a bit newer than most of my classmates. Don't worry, though - we make the transition really easy on you, and you'll slip right into CU pretty quickly, I'm sure. I'll actually be leading one of the Getting Started transfer groups (or I should be, since that's what I applied for), if the Lord does indeed provide the funding I need to go back for '10-'11, so I might actually see some of you guys during your first week. =)
Mitch: I'd definitely encourage you to go for the CC team! Most of my roommates from last year were on the track and CC teams, and I know several of the guys from the teams as well, and the teams are GREAT. They all say that the coach is really good, too. We even had some All Americans last year, and one of our girls placed first in one of her events at one of the Nationals. Andrew: good choice of majors, hehe - I'm an IS major, and I have some friends in the CS major, and it should be good to ya. We have a LOT of Frisbee players, too - most nice nights, there's usually a group of students playing Frisbee on the lawn between Apple and Milner or by Maddox, and I believe there's even an Ultimate Frisbee team - so you shouldn't have a problem finding people to play with. Anyways, welcome to all the new transfers (and everyone else who's coming in as well)! I'm sure you'll love CU as much as the rest of us do. ------------------------- Jenn, Class of 2011 Major: Information Systems (one of only two girls in IS! Someone please join us - it's a blast, I promise!) |

Hey Mitch,
Umm Holly isn't really what I'd call "near" Saline. Its about an hour away. But they are both in southeastern Michigan. Lets see, things I enjoy. Well, I've played piano for about ten years. I was going to major in it, but after my audition I decided I didn't really enjoy it enough to make it my major. So I'm doing Theatre which I love. I really want to travel alot, but I can't really afford it |

This is probably a silly question, but have you ever been to Mackinac Island? Would you want to travel just as a hobby or to perform for Theatre? The Men's Glee Club is the same as a Men's Chorus. I think the ensemble has about 30 men. I was in concert choir all four years of high school, and in the show choir for my final two years of high school. I really enjoy singing, and am actually interested in learning to play the piano. My mom has been an elementary music teacher for the past 30 or so years, and she's attempting to teach me, but as for now, it's slow going

Yes I've been to Mackinac Island!!! I love it there!!! You really should go if you ever get the chance. I would want to travel for fun, but if I had to do it for work I wouldn't mind

Hey Mitch!
Sorry about not getting back to you till now. I've been working at a summer camp all summer, and forgot about this! Shame. I'm transferring from a local Community College (Schenectady County Community College) over here in NY. How about you? I'm staying in ******* (with-held due to Assassins game) hall with one of my friends (who was actually a counselor this past year at the camp i work at). Which hall did you get? Yah, that kenpo thing sounds pretty interesting, so i'll be looking into that, and definitely frisbee. ------------------------- In Christ, Andrew Stoker Psalm 42:11 Edited: 10/06/2010 at 03:49:58 PM by AStoker |
