There are computers in Every Dorm room on Campus, and here's some answers to FAQs about them.

Q:  How a computer load my files and settings when I login, but someone else's when they log in.

A: The answer is rather complicated, but essentially, your computer serves as a framework onto which the network loads your settings and files.  All of this is stored on the H: Drive, where every student and faculty member has  a prescribed amount of space. Every time you log in, the computer reads your H: drive and uses your H: Drive as its "My Documents" folder.

Q: How do I access the software on CedarNet?

A:  Start Menu > All Programs > _CedarNet (very top of the menu)
(The Novell Client will the come up and proceed to transfer the program to the computer you are using. It will then stay on that computer, no matter who uses it, and becomes part of the underlying "framework" of the computer. This can sometimes take some time, depending on the program you're installing.)

Q: Am I allowed to install my own programs on the dorm computers?

A: Yes.  Sometimes you will need administrative privileges to do so, however.  You can find the Administrator password under the barcode on the sticker on the front of your dorm computer.  Username is "Administrator".

Q: Where can I find my H: Drive on the dorm computer?

A:  It should be in "My Computer" under the section "Network Drives".

Q: How can I play DVDs on my dorm computer?

A: The best program for this is InterWin DVD, which should be already in your "All Programs" List.
